About Me

My name is Mariana Delgado, and I’m a University of South Florida graduate with a master’s in liberal arts and a background in mass communications. I’m co-founder and editor-in-chief of Screen Speck, a multicultural publication dedicated to granting a platform to unheard voices in the entertainment industry. For the past year, I was a freelance features writer for Collider and have been published in multiple other online publications such as FilmCred, FlipScreen, Inverse, and ScreenQueens.

Most of my work background revolves around writing copywriting and creating content for industries from agriculture to the medical field during my last three years as an undergrad. In Alaso Corp., an agricultural company, I wrote copy for their marketing division that included learning about their industrial-sized chicken coups and making them reader-friendly for future conventions. At Moffitt Cancer Center, I accomplished a myriad of tasks. I worked on live events that included hosting public events with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and creating social media posts featuring elves on a shelf for the holiday season.

My time in grad school helped develop my writing and editor skills. Spending two years learning how to research and turn that information into critical analysis for my thesis has honed my research skills. I’ve approached every challenge with enthusiasm, creativity, and a ceaseless desire to succeed. This passion and drive have paved the way to countless opportunities, unique experiences, and exceptional personal and professional relationships. I consider my background in mass communications and humanities an asset in adaptability and range. I am lucky enough to merge these skills into one and pursue a professional writing career as a film journalist.
